De ce fait, seront notamment abordés son répertoire pour instruments traditionnels vietnamiens, en commençant par une brève étude organologique, avant de passer à l’analyse musicale de ses œuvres. Cette analyse permettra de relever quelques éléments du langage musical du compositeur, mais aussi et surtout de citer les différentes techniques de jeu que l’on peut retrouver dans ses œuvres pour instruments occidentaux. Enfin, nous effectuerons une brève comparaison de l’emploi de ces différentes techniques de jeu afin de comprendre comment le compositeur parvient à transposer un geste musical d’un instrument vietnamien à un instrument occidental. This article will try to show how the composer Nguyễn Thiên Đạo accommodates both Eastern and Western philosophies in his music and how one culture can benefit of another and vice versa. As such, this article will address his solo repertoire for Vietnamese traditional instruments by briefly studying the main characteristics of these specific instruments before moving on to a musical analysis of his most significant works. This analysis will highlight some elements of his musical language and different playing techniques that can also be found in his solo works for Western instruments.
